Initial Postpartum Consultation

In depth Postpartum Assessment.

We require all new mums to come in for an in depth postpartum assessment prior to joining our mums + bubs classes, so we can educate you how to properly restore your core, pelvic floor and find appropriate progressions into other forms of movement.

Included:

  • 45min-in person consultation to discuss your birth story and discuss your overall pelvic floor history, including leakage, symptoms of prolapse, pain with sex, constipation & more, identify and address any pain you might be experiencing after pregnancy & birth or as a new mum

  • Assessment of abdominal separation and education about how to manage intra-abdominal pressures during exercise. This is essential if you wish to progress into higher intensity exercise such as running.

  • Tailored pelvic floor and abdominal separation advice and resources to ensure you look after your pelvic health!

Why do I need an Assessment if I have already had clearance and seen a physio?

We understand that there is a lot of appointments you need to attend as a new mum, therefor you wouldn’t want to double up! The reason we want to assess you prior to attending classes is assess your movement, your breathing mechanics and educate about abdominal pressure management strategies. These components are specific to exercise, and are not addressed by an obstetrician or physiotherapist! In order to exercise safely and progress to higher intensity exercise or movements, it is important to understand the impacts some exercises can have on your abdominal wall and pelvic floor.

Pelvic Floor Recovery

ο»ΏAs women’s health accredited exercise physiologists we know how to screen for pelvic floor issues and provide appropriate resources and education to ensure that current symptoms do not develop into bigger issues such as prolapse.

Understanding Diastasis Recti (DRAM)

Women’s Health EP’s help to bridge the gap between injury, illness, birth or surgeries and returning or starting to exercise! Understanding complications of DRAM is important to help reconnect with your core, and reduce other complications such as lower back pain that can present with mis-managed abdominal separation.

We understand that everyone has a different birth story, and will feel ready at different times but we can assure you with proper guidance you can get moving very quickly!

Mums + Bubs Group Reformer

Our mums + bubs reformer classes are a great environment for you to start moving with bub only an arms length away. Throughout your classes we ensure you are moving safely, help you re-connect with your core and gain the incredible mental health benefits of movement.

6 Week Prenatal Program

Prepare your mind and body for birth. Learn tools to reduce labour pain, minimise risks of tearing & optimise your chances of a natural birth & a healthy baby. This program is designed to get you feeling informed and empowered leading up to birth, connect you with a small group of like minded women on the same journey and inspire you to meditate, nurture and move your body everyday as a way to support your wellbeing and the wellbeing of your baby.

1:1 Appointments

After having a bub women can start to present with various symptoms that they might think is β€˜normal’ especially when exercising. We recommend coming in to be assessed prior to returning to higher intensity exercises like running and group based functional training.
