What “size-inclusive” means here
- No weigh-ins, no diet talk, no before/after photos.
- Comfortable setups (head/hip support, strap choices, wider boxes, bolsters) to fit your body.
- Choice over positions (side-lying, elevated, chair-based) and pace—your consent leads.
- Plain-English coaching focused on function, not appearance.
- Nervous-system aware: adjustable intensity, breath cues, and rest intervals.
Why Reformer can feel different in a bigger body
- Leverage & joint angles: spring, box height, and footbar tweaks change how things feel.
- Breath & intra-abdominal pressure: we cue breathing that supports pelvic floor & trunk control.
- Hypermobility or “tight-but-bendy”: we blend mobility with control, not just stretching.
- Pain-aware progressions: graded loading that meets you where you are.
Bottom line: we adapt the equipment to you—not the other way round.
What to expect in class
- Arrival & setup: we help you find comfortable positions (head/hip support, strap length, spring choice).
- Options always offered: choose your range, tempo, and positions (e.g., side-lying vs supine).
- Consent-led coaching: we ask before hands-on and adapt the plan if anything feels off.
- Finish & decompress: gentle breath/down-regulation so you leave settled, not frazzled.
Accessibility & comfort tools
- Head/neck bolsters, wedges, extra-wide boxes, long straps
- Side-lying/elevated options to avoid breathlessness or reflux
- Chair-based transitions and step-by-step demos
- Music/volume adjusted on request; private cues available

FAQs
What is Health At Every Size (HAES)?
Weight Inclusivity: Accept and respect the inherent diversity of body shapes and sizes and reject the idealizing or pathologizing of specific weights.
Health Enhancement: Support health policies that improve and equalize access to information and services, and personal practices that improve human well-being, including attention to individual physical, economic, social, spiritual, emotional, and other needs.
Respectful Care: Acknowledge our biases, and work to end weight discrimination, weight stigma, and weight bias. Provide information and services from an understanding that socio-economic status, race, gender, sexual orientation, age, and other identities impact weight stigma, and support environments that address these inequities.
Eating for Well-being: Promote flexible, individualized eating based on hunger, satiety, nutritional needs, and pleasure, rather than any externally regulated eating plan focused on weight control.
Life-Enhancing Movement: Support physical activities that allow people of all sizes, abilities, and interests to engage in enjoyable movement, to the degree that they choose.
Do you have mirrors in the studio?
We do have mirrors in both our Group Reformer and Clinical Pilates Studio. We do have curtains in our Clinical Pilates Studio that we use for those that are triggered by mirrors. Unfortunately we are yet to install curtains in our group reformer studio.
When do the classes run?
Our Bigger Bodies group reformer classes will run on a Tuesday at 5:30pm and a Thursday at 5:30pm. It is our goal to increase the number of classes on our timetable, once the classes start to fill up. We have 4-5 Clinical Pilates Classes on our timetable everyday, for those that want a tailored 1:3 approach to their movement journey.
Do I need to attend an Initial Assessment prior to commencing classes?
We want to ensure that you have the best experience at your first class, so please book in for an Initial Assessment prior to commencing classes. We want to get to know you, discuss any concerns you may have and show you our fantastic studio. We understand that this is a big step for many, so its our number one priority to make you feel comfortable, and completely in control of your movement plan.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
If you have a chronic health condition, a referral from your GP means there will be Medicare rebates available for 1:1 sessions prior to joining our group classes. This is at times ideal to build a strong foundation prior to moving into our bigger bodies classes.
Can I Claim on my private health insurance?
As your classes will be run by HAES aligned Accredited Exercise Physiologists, your Assessments and classes can be claimed on private health insurance if you have cover for Exercise Physiology.
