EXERCISE FOR CANCER

Exercise is proven to provide many benefits before, during and following cancer treatment.

Latest research shows strongly that people with cancer who engage in structured exercise experience fewer and less severe treatment-related side effects and report improved quality-of-life.

Breast Cancer Recovery

There are many benefits of exercise during breast cancer recovery - fewer and less severe side effects, and improved mental health, physical ability and quality of life due to positive physiological adaptations within your body!

It is recommended that breast cancer patients receive guidance with an individualised exercise program tailored to them, their cancer diagnosis, treatments, comorbidities, physical capability, and goals.

At any.BODY Pilates & Exercise Physiology you can work with one of our Accredited Exercise Physiologist to complete a graded, tailored exercise program that can include a range of exercise modalities (aerobic, resistance training, balance training and stretching/mobility).

Gynaecological cancers

Exercise plays an important role in the treatment of, and recovery from, gynaecological cancer through reducing the number and severity of treatment-related side effects and symptoms (such as pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and cognitive impairment), as well as improving or maintaining function during and after treatment. After surgery and treatment for gynaecological cancer, some women can present with changes in bowel and urinary function due to interference within the pelvic bowl. Depending on your symptoms and damage to the pelvic bowl, exercise focusing on pelvic floor control and pelvic stability will be the foundation of your practice here at any.BODY.

Cancer Related Fatigued

Thee current National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines recommend physical activity/exercise as a behavioural intervention for reducing cancer related fatigue. At any.BODY Studio, we are ready to meet you were you are at. We understand that after everything you have been through, and all the fatigue that you are experiencing, you need to find an Exercise Physiologist you can trust.

Exercise can come in many forms, and it is our job to find the right dose of movement that will assist with your CFR, and improve your daily life.

Mindfulness

Studies have shown that a single session of 30-minute of mindful breathing has a dramatic impact on cancer related fatigue. This is one reason we will program exercises and help you stay mindful during your session.

During our sessions, we encourage breathing with movement. This ensures slow, mindful movements that is immensely beneficial to assist with reconnecting with your body, reducing CRF and ensuring you feel safe, guided and in control of your exercise routine.
