Elevate Your Game - Communication Principles 1.5hrs

Breaking down functional anatomy in terms you understand so you can apply it to your teaching. Why bother? Being able to explain movements to your clients in ways they understand, requires you to understand + comprehend key functional movement concepts. For example, how do you really cue correct activation of someone’s mid back?

Justifications and “why’s” behind classic Pilates Exercises. Taking a classic exercise, being able to communicate its ‘use’ and functional purpose to your clients will increase their motivation and the retention in your classes.

What does it mean to switch on your core? Identify communications strategies to help your clients understand core activation in a variety of postures and positions. Help clients with neck, knee and wrist pain by applying these principles.

Exploring neutral spine – Why it matters for some and not for others. How to cue it in a way so that your clients care about it and how to help them engage and to make it relevant in their everyday life.

  • 2hrs Understanding Pain and Discomfort in Group Reformer Classes.

    - Improve your understanding of pain, to better assist your clients in understanding their pain. Learn empathetic pain coaching methods that will help you gain credibility with your clients

    - Teaching the Immobile client vs the hypermobile client. Why it matters and how this will help elevate your game as a Pilates instructor!

1hr - An Introduction to teaching people in bigger bodies. Enhance their experience, making them feel capable, comfortable and accepted.

2hrs - Applying Biomechanics to key Exercise to Improve Pain and Discomfort in Group Reformer Clients

Practical component where we will explore ‘connection cues’ in key movements. Be guided through key positions (standing, side lying, four point kneeling, planking etc), and apply key connection cues to help you connect more into the movement.

You know those exercises that everyone suffers in. Neck Pain in chest lift, Lower back pain in Sides over the box. Lets go through all those exercises and break it down. Most of the time you can increase the comfort level for your client by positioning them better and assisting them with the ideal connection cue.
