Our Accredited Exercise Physiologists are specialists in Women’s Health and are available for assessments, private consultations and group classes. 

Pelvic Organ Prolapse (POP)

Pelvic organ prolapse (POP), is more common than you think, it effects women of all ages, but you can often be left feeling quite alone as it is not a topic that is as openly discussed in general conversation with others.

Once you have been provided with a diagnosis, we as Women’s Health Exercise Physiologists can provide you with specialised pelvic floor and deep core muscle exercises to ensure your pelvic floor muscles are working in correct synchrony. It is this synchrony of the pelvic floor and transverse abdominis muscles which are affected when you experience a prolapse, however, there is a lot we can do to rehabilitate these muscle groups.

As we work with you to rehabilitate these muscle groups, you will begin to see an improvement in your continence, feel as though you have better control of your pelvic floor and pain/discomfort will diminish. Those with mild POP may be able to improve their condition or decrease the risk of it getting worse.
